Evansville will be the first stop on Chris August’s first headlining tour, as he hits the road to promote his forthcoming album, The Upside of Down.
August will play at the RiverCity Faithfest in Evansville on Sept. 15. The Faithfest web site is advertising a $25 VIP experience for August’s concert that includes a copy of his new CD, a t-shirt, poster, meet-and-greet session and a VIP laminate.
August’s concert itself is free and several regional bands will open for him.
Center of It, the lead single off August’s new album, is currently at No. 13 on Billboard’s Christian singles chart. The new album is scheduled for release on Aug. 17.
In 2011, August was named new artist and male vocalist of the year by the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Awards. The awards recognized the strength of his debut album, No Far Way, which included the No. 1 Christian single Starry Night.
His debut album also won the Dove award for best pop/contemporary album of the year.
