Bankers Life Fieldhouse is one of 12 stops on Hillsong’s American tour, which hits Indy on June 19. Tickets are $22 to $45.

Hillsong has been a popular touring unit in the United States in recent years, selling out the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the Gwinnett Center in Atlanta and the BankUnited Center in Miami.

In February, it released Zion, its highest-debuting album on the Billboard 200, reaching No. 5.  Among the band’s popular worship songs are Hosanna, Mighty to Save and From the Inside Out.

The Hillsong United band originated as a part of Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia.

Founding lead vocalist Joel Parisien and drummer Mark Rogers will be joined by Canadian bassist John Irvine, Motown alumnus Leroy Emmanuel and the famous Chops Horns.

The new additions should deepen the band’s eclectic blend of  ’60s soul, funk, roots and gospel. Emmanuel has played guitar with such soul greats as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and Al Green. The Chops Horns are saxophone players Daryl Dixon and David Watson. They have played with Alicia Keys, the Police, Parliament-Funkadelic, Mariah Carey, Babyface and many others.

Irvine and Emmanuel fill vacancies left by bass player Rich Moore and guitarist Jason Toal . They announced their departures in late 2012 around the time of their Fishers concert.

“We’re so grateful for the experiences we’ve shared with our brothers Josh and Rich,” Parisien said in a recent statement. ”Mark and I are excited to see what God has planned for the next chapter of their lives.”

In October, Moore announced on Twitter that he was leaving the band.

“After 7 years as bassist for @NewWorldSon, I’ve decided that it’s time for me to move on,” Moore tweeted. “Deeply grateful for everything! Friends and Music!”

Toal announced his departure in a November Facebook post.  “Looking forward to the next chapter and wishing the lads the best going forward,” he wrote. “Thanks to all the great friends around the world!”

When asked about Moore’s departure in October, the band responded to Hoosierlujah via a direct message on Twitter. “It’s not an ugly split . We support his decision fully”

The Canadian band is best known for its Christian radio hits There is a Way and Learning to be the Light.

Noticing many new followers. Welcome! Suddenly I feel pressure to have a more exciting life. So I decided to go skydiving. Ok. not really.

The concert and premiere screening of The Sea In Between will be 7 pm April 15 at The Irving theater.  The film features a dozen live performances filmed in less than a week and intertwines them with vignettes that explore Garrel’s creative process and how he’s been able to succeed as a fiercely independent artist.

After the film, Garrels will perform live with the 10-piece Mason Jar Music ensemble. Tickets are $20.

Garrels also is giving away his music again — in hopes of generating money for a cause he believes in.

His hope is that while you’re downloading his albums for free that you’ll make a donation to World Relief’s efforts in the Congo.

Garrels describes the  Democratic Republic of Congo as one of the most unstable, violent, and impoverished nations in the world.

Five of Garrels’ albums can be downloaded for free at Noisetrade through March 28. They include  Love & War & The Sea In Between, Jacaranda, Over Oceans, Lost Animals and Love & War: B-Sides & Remixes EP. 

Garrels’ album Love & War & the Sea In Between gained national attention when it was named Christianity Today’s 2011 Album of the Year.

Now based in Portland, Oregon, Garrels initially offered that album for  free on his web site and it quickly generated more than 100,000 downloads.

Garrels has deep Indiana roots. He was raised here, went to college at Ball State,  pastored a church in Indianapolis and developed his earthy sound here.

Wilson’s new album Carry Me will be released April 9. The title single already has reached No. 10 on the Billboard Christian singles charts and is working its way into his live shows.

The song grew out of his recent troubles with anxiety and panic attacks.

“Ultimately, this difficult season has caused me to rely on God’s strength to carry me through each day,” Wilson says. ” I’ve been praying more often and more earnestly, and I’m thankful that coming to the end of myself has brought me so close to a Father and Savior who loves me and will never leave me.”

His troubles have caused him to lean on Philippians 4, which says: “‘Do not be anxious about anything . . . the peace of God will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Wilson’s new album was produced by Matt Bronleewe, who has worked with Chris Tomlin, and it features 12 new songs.

Wilson is touring with Third Day and Colton Dixon. The tour will stop May 2 at Northview Church in Carmel.

RiverCity Faithfest

Daffodils and other signs of spring are starting to pop up — and that means it’s almost Christian music festival season in Indiana.

Grammy-winning Switchfoot, one of the nation’s premier alternative rock bands, will headline two of the state’s major festivals this year. Here’s an early primer to help you decide which ones to attend this spring and summer.

World Pulse Festival

Take heart, Indiana Christian music fans.

Finally, after two years of head-to-head competition, two of the state’s biggest Christian music festivals will be on separate weekends in August.

The World Pulse Festival, which this year will feature headliner Switchfoot, will be Aug. 10 — on the second weekend of the month, as it has been for the past 27 years.

The newer Fandana festival at Huntington University — just 70 miles from South Bend — has horned in on that weekend for the past two years. But this year, Fandana will be a week earlier on Aug. 2 and 3.

Fandana has yet to announce its concert lineup. Joining Switchfoot at World Pulse will be Audio Adrenaline, Natalie Grant, The City Harmonic and Jason Castro.

Now that Fandana has seen the light, Christian music fans will be able to comfortably enjoy both festivals on separate weekends.

The recently re-formed band features  former dcTalk member Kevin Max as lead vocalist. The title cut from the band’s new album is already at No. 8 on Billboard’s Christian singles chart.

The band’s first Indiana stop will be at Fort Wayne’s Blackhawk Ministries on April 26. The band also will play at the World Pulse Festival in South Bend on Aug. 10 and at the Rock the World music fest Aug. 24 at the Holiday World amusement park in Santa Claus, Ind.

The band’s new lineup includes guitarist Dave Ghazarian, formerly of Superchick;  drummer Jared Byers, formerly of Bleach; keyboard player Jason Walker; and original member Will McGinnis on bass.

The contemporary Christian singer’s album Reckless debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian album chart and reached the Top 10 on iTunes all-genre album chart.

Also, his autobiography I Still Believe is getting a lot of press. The book traces him from his childhood days in Lafayette, Ind., to the meeting of his wife Melissa who died from cancer just months after they were married to his marriage to Adrienne and the birth of their three children.

Camp is the Dove awards two-time male vocalist of the year and has sold over three million albums in his career. He is currently on tour as part of the Rock and Worship Road Show.

Dixon will be the opening act on Third Day’s Miracle tour, which will play March 8 at St. Francis University in Fort Wayne and May 2 at Carmel’s Northview Church. Also on the bill is Josh Wilson.

Dixon’s new album, A Messenger, is scheduled to be released Jan. 29 and features two previously released hit Christian singles, You Are and Never Gone. The album stays true to his Christian alt rock performances on Idol, but is filled with original material co-written by Dixon.

His songwriting partners included Lifehouse’s Jason Wade, Evanescence’s David Hodges, and Busbee, who has written for Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Daughtry, Keith Urban and others.
